iNFOiSLIVE teamed up with Hutchison Telecom, Cable & Wireless HKT, SmarTone and Peoples

iNFOiSLIVE announced today the availability of the first local WWW/WAP portal site 5390.com (http://5390.com) , in collaboration with Hutchison Telecom, Cable & Wireless HKT, SmarTone and Peoples.

5390.com is the mobile extension of the popular instant messaging service ICQ, and is developed by iNFOiSLIVE. Using the Wireless Application Protocol, iNFOiSLIVE brings the features of ICQ to the mobile Internet. With any WAP phones such as Nokia 7110, Ericsson R320s and Motorola L2000i, users will be able to enjoy the convenience and joy of ICQ anytime and anywhere.

iNFOiSLIVE has reached agreements with Hutchison, CWHKT, SmarTone and Peoples, so that their subscribers can access 5390.com service through an option provided on the subscribers' default WAP home. The terms in the agreement also include joint efforts of 5390.com promotion, and to develop some advanced services. These include mobile greeting cards, trendy ringing tones, SMS (Short Message Service) support and even location based user match-up.

WAP users in Hong Kong are the first group of users to enjoy 5390.com, which is an international free service. iNFOiSLIVE will launch service in different languages, and will continue to explore collaboration opportunities with the mobile operators worldwide. Users will still be able to enjoy the basic features of 5390.com by entering the address http://5390.com, before agreements are made between individual operators.

The pronunciations of "five-three-nine-zero" sounds like "I want to seek you" in Mandarin, so the service, inspired by "I Seek You", is named as 5390. With 5390.com, mobile phones users are able to communicate with desktop users. Also, subscribers of different operators are able to convey messages. As a result, 5390.com breaks simultaneously the barriers between mobile phones and desktop computers, as well as that between different operators with SMS.

Since 5390.com synchronizes its contents on both the traditional and mobile Internet, users without WAP phones will also be able to enjoy 5390.com with a web browser (with the same address, http://5390.com). Web users can enjoy the convenience and joy of building their WAP homepages and sending electronic greeting cards to WAP users.

At present, there are over 60 millions ICQ users worldwide, and WAP phone users is estimated to reach 500 millions in 2003. iNFOiSLIVE expects the users of 5390.com to hot one million six months after WAP phones are well available in the market.
