iNFOiSLIVE announces 5390.com (WAP-ICQ) beta

iNFOiSLIVE announced today the availability of 5390.com beta, an ICQ-compatible communication service based on WAP (wireless application protocol), to be used by the upcoming WAP phones including Nokia 7110.

5390 is the worldwide first WAP communication service compatible with AOL ICQ and will be launched the in Hong Kong first. It can be accessed with any WAP phones, simply by inputting the address http://mmm.5390.com. Users can then login with their existing ICQ UIN (user identification number) and password, and get a similar user interface as the already-familiar ICQ client.

5390 pronounces like "I want to seek you" in Chinese, especially Mandarin, so comes the special domain name that users can hardly forget.

With the arrival of 5390, ICQ-chatting will no more be confined to desktop-to- desktop, but can also be mobile-to-desktop or mobile-to-mobile. Better yet, because 5390 is compatible with AOL ICQ, 5390 users will be able to communicate with the existing 50 millions ICQ users. And existing ICQ users will not need to register again in order to enjoy the service.

On the WWW end, 5390.com is a portal web site focused on innovative mobile phone services, with the address http://www.5390.com. There will be four main sections in www.5390.com, namely:

5: registered users can build and store their homepages here, similar to personal WWW homepages. Unlike the former, WAP homepages are to be viewed by WAP phones.

53: for those who miss their friends and better-halves, "53" lets users send and design WAP greeting cards. Card receivers get the blesses with their WAP phones.

539: provides anonymous and random chat, also interest and character match-up. It will match-up couples based on their locations in the near future.

5390: is a web front end for the WAP-5390. Registered users can organize the buddies in their buddy-lists, view message history and others.

iNFOiSLIVE has currently no plan to charge on 5390's service, and will allow all wireless operators to connect to 5390 server for free. We sincerely invite all local wireless operators to work with us to test out 5390, so that the 3 millions mobile subscribers can be the first in the world to enjoy playing ICQ with WAP phones in early January 2000.
